Overview

For some time, Wilbur N. Pickering has felt that among the many hundreds of Greek manuscripts known to exist today, surely God would have preserved the original wording. After years of searching and comparing Greek New Testament manuscripts, he has concluded that God used a certain line of transmission to preserve that wording. That line is by far the largest and most cohesive of all manuscript groups, or families. It is distinguished from all other groups by the high level of care with which it was copied (Pickering holds copies of perfect manuscripts for 22 of the 27 books). It is both ancient and independent, and is the only one that has a demonstrable archetypal form in all 27 books. That archetypal form has been empirically, objectively identified by a wide comparison of family representatives, and it is indeed error free. As Pickering expected, that error-free text is not seriously different from some of the other “good” Greek texts. Nevertheless he has done an English translation based on it.

In the Logos editions, these volumes are enhanced by amazing functionality. Scripture citations link directly to English translations, and important terms link to dictionaries, encyclopedias, and a wealth of other resources in your digital library. Now in its 4th (and final) edition, this is a great translation and needs to be published! Bob Higgins hit the nail on the head--get it out there and people will buy it.

Dr. Wilbur N. Pickering has provided one of the best traslations of the Greek NT. We need to promote these resources to those who are facinated with Bible translations. I have the Kindle version of his translation and it's awesome. I prefer to have it with my LOGOS 10 software to compare with other Bible translations.

The time and scholarship involved in these works is truly amazing. It seems a shame that it isn't ready for Logos yet.

This work (both volumes) have given me a better understanding of both Textual Criticism and Exegesis. I've been so impressed by the work that I've been using it in teaching and study along side other translations (NKJV, NET, etc.). My hope is that its indexed like the others. A interlinear edition with the F35 text would be fantastic!
