Overview

I delivered these lectures at Talbot Theological Seminary in October, 1975 as the Lyman Stewart Lecturer for that year. In January of 1976 they also were delivered at Capital Bible Seminary, and in February at a Christian Education Seminar of the Presbyterian Church of America. Although a few emendations have been made for publication, the book is subst~tially the same as the lectures. However, I have added ten sample cases that may be used by students, either individually, in classes or as a part of other groups, to provide practice in applying the biblical principles of crisis counseling presented in the lectures. I hope that this addition will be of significance. Questions and directions for role play accompany each case.

My goal is to help prepare the Christian counselor to aid his people in facing the many sorts of crisis situations that they inevitably encounter in a world of sin. My prayer is that God will use this book to that end.
