Overview

Joachim Jeremias’ The Parables of Jesus is a classic of twentieth-century New Testament scholarship. However, to fully appreciate its original calls for a knowledge of Greek, and patience to work through much technical and linguistic material. With this in mind, Jeremias produced this shorter and simplified version which was subsequently also translated into English. This reissue is for a new generation of readers who will perhaps find it even more useful than did their predecessors.

About Joachim Jeremias

Joachim Jeremias (1900–1979) was a German Lutheran theologian. He was a scholar in Near Eastern studies and professor of New Testament at the University of Goettingen, Germany. He is author of several books, including Jerusalem in the Time of Jesus.
