Overview

In Ordinary Grace, members of the Daughters of St. Paul share the fruit of their “lectio divina” (a prayerful reading of Sacred Scripture). Join them in welcoming the unique grace of Ordinary Time—the opportunity to reflect more deeply on all the aspects of the mystery of Christ, as presented in the daily Gospel readings. These reflections are based on a “lectio divina” (“holy reading”) prayer method, in line with the Pauline tradition and their founder, Blessed James Alberione.

Top Highlights

“‘Is my prayer so sincere that I would be willing to be a part of God’s concrete answer to my prayers?’ Ultimately, our belief in God has to go beyond external words and be grounded in a deep faith that leads to a readiness to act for the sake of others.” (Page 59)

“He traded the riches of heavenly glory for the lilies of the field and hard work in Joseph’s carpentry shop. Following Jesus will stretch us and bend us and break us until selfishness is expunged from our hearts. Then what a gift it will be to live openly for others, and not to have to defend and protect ourselves, our ideas, our possessions. What a consolation when suffering will reveal to us the precious gold of transformation and new life, and its mysteries will be a source of peace.” (Page 251)

“The key of knowledge is humility of heart, the ability to accept a truthful message even when it’s hard to hear. Resistance to truth, as well as its acceptance, come more from our heart than our mind.” (Page 199)

“Help me to see my part in God’s loving plan of salvation, and to stay true to it in the midst of this day’s joys and challenges.” (Page 89)

“All this frustrating or boring ‘waiting time’ can be transformed into ‘vigil time” (Page 73)
