Overview

The early letters from Paul glow with the fire of the Spirit and His provision for believers distressed by unsettling and erroneous teachings. This study challenges us to fearless faith by experiencing and trusting the true freedom the Spirit gives.

Top Highlights

“Yet other teachers had followed Paul. These teachers, known as Judaizers, taught that Gentiles had to be circumcised and turn to the Law as well as accepting Jesus as their Savior. In addition, they attacked Paul in two particular ways: 1) they claimed that his apostleship was either inauthentic or secondary to that of the original apostles, and 2) they attacked Paul’s character, claiming that he was just preaching what people wanted to hear in order to obtain a following.” (source)

“In Galatia, Paul had begun his ministry to the Gentiles, and had established his doctrine of salvation by faith without works of the Law.” (source)

“Compromise due to peer pressure is essentially a fear-response” (source)

“Attacks on identity are either suggestions that one is something that he is not, or it is the lack of recognition of what one truly is. In Paul’s case the Judaizers were saying he was a man-pleaser (which he wasn’t), and he was not an authentic apostle (which he was).” (source)

“First, it seems apparent that the Galatians received the Spirit when they responded to the word of faith. Within” (source)
