Overview

The ``name it, claim it" theology of the Word Faith Movement˝is presented as biblical---but is it? In this compelling˝book, McConnell documents the historical link between faith˝theology and New Thought metaphysics. He then analyzes faith˝theology’s doctrines of healing and prosperity as well as its˝understanding of the atonement of Christ to show how they˝deviate from biblical teaching. This updated edition features˝a foreword by Hank Hanegraaff and an afterword by McConnell.˝Softcover from Hendrickson.

Top Highlights

“All that is being claimed at this point is that the father of the Faith movement seems to have associated with a religious group that denied the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith.” (source)

“Hagin’s followers read the Bible through the glasses of Hagin’s theology. They see in the Bible what they are taught to see, and little else.” (source)

“The Faith movement uses so much evangelical and Pentecostal terminology and so many biblical proof-texts that most believers are lulled into a false sense of security as to its orthodoxy.” (source)

“The word-for-word correspondences between Hagin’s writings and Kenyon’s cannot be attributed to coincidence, nor can they be attributed to a miracle of inspiration by the Holy Spirit.” (source)

“within the church, within groups that call themselves ‘Christian’ but which actually preach a different gospel” (source)

  1. P. Christoph Blohberger
Somebody with Logos, a good Library some knowledge of Theology and Church History can easily refute Mr. McConnel. It`s just mere slander what he writes! This has actually been done academically by Paul L. King. He is a professor at ORU. Named "ORU Scholar of the Year in 2006. "Only Believe - Examening the Origin and Develepment of Classic and Contemporary Word of Faith Theologies". It`s a Gold mine.
