Seattle Seahawks Turn to Scripture for Mental Preparation Ahead of Super Bowl
Logos’s Bible study tools are part of elite performance for championship-bound players
BELLINGHAM, WA (Feb. 3, 2026)— Before practice each week, dozens of Seattle Seahawks players gather in the locker room for Bible study, a quiet routine that has become part of their preparation ahead of the Super Bowl.
The voluntary sessions, led by team chaplain Jonathan Rainey, regularly draw as many as 40–50 players during the season. Last November, Logos’s director of ministry relations Scott Lindsey visited the Seahawks locker room to explore Scripture in greater depth with over a dozen players—including wide receiver Jake Bobo and quarterback Drew Lock—using the trusted Logos Bible study platform.
“Football isn't random: The playbook is complex and requires focus,” Lindsey said. “The players approach the Bible with that same seriousness. They want to understand it, not just read it. The playbook of life is the Bible, and it requires dedication to the Book.”
The November training focused on Logos’s new Study Assistant, an AI feature that allows users to ask questions and receive answers drawn from the Bible and respected biblical scholarship. When one player asked about the Nephilim in Genesis 6, the group put the question into Study Assistant in real time. Players use the Logos tools on phones and tablets while traveling, studying individually and in small groups throughout the NFL season.
“These guys spend hours studying film and perfecting their bodies. This is time to center their minds and hearts,” said Jonathan Rainey, team chaplain for the Seattle Seahawks. “It gives them perspective before the biggest moments of their careers.”
Faith gatherings like these have become increasingly common across professional and college sports as athletes look for ways to build resilience, community, and perspective amid the pressures of competition. Logos has supported similar efforts with teams and chaplains for years, including training players with the Philadelphia Eagles during their 2018 Super Bowl season.
“Logos has been huge for me recently in my faith journey,” said Jake Bobo, Seahawks wide receiver. “Like anyone, questions surrounding Scripture continue to come up in my daily life. Logos now gives me the ability to answer these questions right when they present themselves, whether I’m in a discussion, reading Scripture, or simply spending time in the Lord’s presence.”
“These players prepare for every detail of game day,” Lindsey said. “For many of them, spiritual preparation is just as important.”
