Stuttgart Electronic Study Bible (SESB), Version 3.0 (52 Vols.)

Logos is pleased to announce the release of the Stuttgart Electronic Study Bible (SESB) Version 3.0! This newly upgraded collection includes exclusive material such as the critical editions of the Greek and Hebrew Scriptures from the German Bible Society, recognized world-wide as exemplars of modern biblical scholarship. In addition to the Bible texts in the original languages, SESB 3.0 includes more than 20 modern Bible translations, including English, French, German, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Russian, and modern Greek, along with a wealth of Bible reference works. In all, SESB offers a Bible reference library which contains more than thirty Bible versions in ten languages. Only the SESB combines such a wide variety of multilingual Bible translations and dictionaries into a singular library.

SESB 3.0 also contains the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia with text critical apparatus and linguistic WIVU database, plus the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia: Workgroep Informatica Constituency Tree Analysis. The new WIVU database allow for a precise overview on how the single textual elements of a specific text passage are analyzed and hierarchically organized.

The Stuttgart Electronic Study Bible can be used effectively in different areas—for personal Bible study or a scholarly exegesis, for preparation of a class, in the parish or in an academic setting.

Users of the first or second release of SESB can get all the advantages of SESB 3.0 by purchasing the SESB 3.0 Upgrade. The upgrade provides access to all resources and features of SESB 3.0. It can be used by customers who either have the original edition of SESB or SESB 2.0.

Praise for SESB 3.0

The Stuttgart Electronic Study Bible software package presents an exciting new era in Bible software. . .
—David Kummerow
It really is a pleasure to look up and search in ways never thought possible before these great electronic resources. I must confess that the 'wow' factor remains high even after roughly three months of use.
—Rubén Gómez, Bible Software Review
A beautifully presented and highly efficient research tool.
—Catherine Conybeare
With the critical apparatuses, a good selection of modern versions in European languages, as well as the potential that lies in the WIVU database, the German and Netherlands Bible Societies are to be congratulated for offering an electronic product that is unlike any other available Bible software.
—Sarah Link, TicTalk

Key Features Included in SESB 3.0

Original Language Editions with Critical Apparatus

The scholarly Bible versions in SESB (BHS, BHQ, GNT, NA27, LXX, Vulgate) also include the text critical apparatus of the printed editions. Just click on a reference sign to view the corresponding apparatus entry. Sigla and abbreviations are explained in pop-up windows.

Translation and Linguistic Analysis

For any word of the BHS, the NA27 and the LXX SESB offers an English translation and a morphological analysis. A double click on a word automatically opens the corresponding dictionary entry, making time-consuming leafing through dictionaries unnecessary.

Flexible Search Options

All Bible versions, dictionaries and reference works in SESB are searchable. Flexible search options allow you to limit your search to specific books or individual search ranges, and to search with operators and wildcards (* and ?). Search results can easily be printed out, saved or copied to other applications.

Searching by Lemma

BHS, Nestle-Aland, and the Septuagint feature a special lemma search. With this search you find all inflected forms of a word by simply entering the infinitive. You can even demand a certain number of hits in a specific number of verses or chapters to find passages with a significant accumulation of the search term.

Search with Linguistic Databases

The morphological search in Greek and Hebrew Bible text and the syntax search with the linguistic WIVU database, facilitate your exegetical work a lot. They allow not only to search for morphological features, but—in the BHS text—even for syntactic structures. No other Bible software offers such a sophisticated functionality!

Display Parallel Bible Versions

Several Bible versions can easily be displayed in parallel columns. The differences between Bible versions of one language can even be highlighted automatically. Thus, you can easily compare several translations of your preferred language!

Copy Text to your Word Processor

With the special text export feature of SESB you can easily copy any Bible text passage (also in Greek or Hebrew script) to your word processor for further editing. To make this as comfortable as possible, several templates for exporting text according to your needs are available.

Highlight and Arrange Text

Via the integrated Sentence Diagrammer and the highlighting functions every text can be edited in such a way that its internal structure becomes evident instantaneously. This is a great tool for teaching and visualization!

Add Notes

With SESB you can add your own notes to any text passage. Notes can be linked to individual words, verses or paragraphs. They can also be searched.
