Overview

The five books of the Pentateuch are foundational to all of Scripture and rank as one of the most important sections in God's Word. Just as a knowledge of the four gospels is essential for understanding the New Testament, so the content of the Pentateuch is crucial to the rest of the Old Testament and for that matter the whole Bible.

I Studied Wolf's book for a course in Seminary in 2006. Wolfe examines the evidence for Mosaic authorship, and introduces the reader to alternative views of the subject. After presenting the reader with the theology of the Pentateuch, he discusses the "hot" topics within each book. His work discusses several main themes that emerge within each of the five books, and gives the reader a good bibliography to pursue further studies. This is a good introductory book for the study of The Pentateuch, and my only regret is that he has not documented his references in greater detail, as he engaged the academic community in his discussion.
