Overview

These studies grew out of my work in Biblical chronology. I needed to get hold of what is going on in Daniel generally, as well as deal with the particular chronological difficulties. These pages are the result of my research and reflection, up to August 1994. Now, reader, it is your turn, if you accept the challenge, to question whether I am right or not, and/or build further reflections on mine. This manuscript is relatively free of footnotes and credit. The historical information used has been drawn from standard Biblical encyclopedias, standard works on the inter-testamental era, and Josephus. As regards interpretation, help and stimulation came from other commentaries. Only where an argument is new or unusual, and the reader may wish more information, have I provided a reference.
