Overview

In Christ Our Salvation: What God Does for Us and in Us, Dr. LaRondelle reviews the essential truths of the Gospel. He does not avoid past problems that have divided the Christian church and instead he faces them with intellectual rigor and joy. LaRondelle asks, “How can these two concepts be harmonized: the fact that God in Christ has reconciled the world to Himself, and God’s command to man to be reconciled to God? Why after God’s act of reconciliation must there be an act of man?” The author answers these questions and then discusses subjects such as divine election, providence, the Gospel of reconciliation, justification, sanctification, glorification, and more.

“In the Bible, the good news of salvation includes—in addition to justification, rebirth, and sanctification—the glorification and immortalization of body and soul. Salvation, therefore, is more than a biblical concept; it is a faith experience that redeems our past, fills the present with joy, and looks forward with hope to the glorious future.” (Page 5)

“In the Bible, surprisingly, salvation is not the achievement of man’s own doing, or willing, or thinking. Salvation is a gift from God! This gift is God Himself, manifested in His Son, Christ Jesus. The Source of salvation is a Person.” (Page 5)

“Bible sanctification is motivated and empowered all the way by the Holy Spirit and directed to the honor and glory of God.” (Page 38)

“Here we see the mystery of God’s holiness. On the one hand, willing to forgive sin; yet, on the other hand not willing to clear the guilty. Here grace and justice are combined; neither attribute is played off against the other. The key to understanding how both can stand together is Christ. His life revealed that He ‘loved righteousness and hated wickedness.’ Hebrews 1:9. God expects men and women to reveal the same attitude, which becomes manifest in the spirit of true repentance under the convicting working of the Holy Spirit upon his heart.” (Page 13)

“maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from” (Page 30)
