About John G. Butler

John G. Butler, originally from Iowa, has been a Baptist minister for over fifty years and a pastor for over thirty-five years with pastorates in Clinton, Iowa; Williamsburg, Ohio; Detroit, Michigan; and Chicago, Illinois. Having attended Tennessee Temple University and graduated from Cedarville University, he also authored the 27-volume Bible Biography Series, a 10-volume Study of the Savior series about Jesus Christ, and the 4-volume Butler's Daily Bible Reading set, a unique daily devotional focusing on expository Bible study. He is also a veteran of the United States Navy.

“Sacrifice. Lot’s offer to sacrifice his daughters to the homosexuals shows the backward, upside-down attitude he had about sacrifice that comes to those who walk contrary to God’s way—which the worldly Christian does.” (Page 94)

“But there is fault in such reasoning. The fault is that the compromise is viewed in this situation as necessary to bring about Lot’s salvation. But such a conclusion severely limits God and is an insult to God.” (Page 15)

“There were two causes that mandated Lot’s departure from Abraham. These two causes were substance and strife. The profuseness of substance was the primary cause. The presence of strife was the secondary cause.” (Page 28)

His talk of love for the church, for the Lord, and for the Word is just talk to impress. It is not genuine as will be seen when such things as church services conflict with his carnal plans and interests.” (Page 78)
