Top Highlights

“The only possible response to Paul’s dilemma is despair (7:24), and the only answer to that despair is Christ (7:25).” (Page 669)

“Down seven times, but not out! No matter how often a righteous person is seemingly defeated, he or she will always recover. The wicked person, however, will fall and not recover (24:15–16).” (Page 340)

“Luke paused from his narrative to give Christ’s genealogy. While Matthew traced Christ’s lineage through Joseph, his legal father (see Matt. 1:1–17), Luke traced it through Mary, beginning with Mary’s father, Heli. (Men in ancient times often regarded their sons-in-law as their own sons.) The lineages of Mary and Joseph converge at King David (compare 3:31 with Matt. 1:6).” (Page 582)

“ John used it in a unique way, to teach that Jesus was the embodiment or expression of all that God is” (Page 606)

“Some suggest that the 24 elders, who reappear several times in John’s vision, were angelic beings. Others believe they may have been a representative body of OT and NT saints (compare 21:12–14). This latter view is suggested by the fact that the Greek word for their crowns is stephanos, used elsewhere in the NT to describe the crowns or rewards of victorious believers (see 1 Cor. 9:25; 1 Pet. 5:4), rather than diadema, which describes a crown worn by royalty or, in Revelation, by supernatural beings (see 12:3; 13:1; 19:12).” (Page 798)

This is my go to handbook. I have this in Logos and a paper copy. This book, Strongs, and my Way of Life Encyclopedia are my three most used books in my Bible study.
