Throughout Van Dorn’s works readers are encouraged to see familiar texts in a new light and find new methods of application. These works assist even seasoned teachers in bringing God’s Word to his people and provide opportunities for explaining and applying biblical teaching on baptism.

In Waters of Creation, Douglas Van Dorn traces the roots of baptism throughout the Old Testament and explains that baptism has always been the sign God uses to initiate his people into a new creation. Baptism in the New Testament is not new; its origin derives from Old Testament predecessors. This illuminating study of the Old Testament sheds light on the beginnings of baptism and discusses why Baptists administer believers’ baptism. Gain a new perspective on an important symbol for historical faith and practice.
Goliath. Christians are familiar with the story, but why is it in the Bible? Douglas Van Dorn examines the origin and family line of Goliath and explains that an invisible, supernatural storyline of the Bible is always present just beneath the surface. Once you discover the truth about these fantastic creatures, you will come to see the ministry and work of Jesus Christ in a new light. Learn the fascinating, sobering story of giants who played a significant role in the development of God’s story in the Bible.
The culture surrounding Galatian Christians was filled with belief in supernatural beings, distracting them from the Scriptures. Paul gave the Galatians this warning: “Even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.”
This ancient warning can have a new power in our present multicultural and poly-religious setting. Van Dorn’s book is presented as a series of sermons preached at the Reformed Baptist Church of Northern Colorado in 2011. Find surprising and helpful application points that challenge preconceptions in this uniquely supernatural view of Galatians.
In this book, Douglas Van Dorn points readers to Old Testament passages that some may find outdated, unintelligible, and irrelevant for today’s church. Learn how Christ is found in Old Testament prophecy, typology, and the law. Van Dorn explains that Jesus is actually present in the text—walking, speaking, and acting—beginning in the very first book of the Bible. Learn how labels such as “Word,” “Name,” “Glory,” and “Wisdom” are all ideas that refer to Christ, who in the Old Testament is called The Angel of the Lord. These studies provide a new perspective on biblical theology with Christ speaking throughout Scripture.
This primer sets out to provide readers with the basics of a Reformed Baptist covenant theology. Douglas Van Dorn agrees with classical formulations of covenant theology in that there is a Covenant of Redemption, a Covenant of Works, and a Covenant of Grace in the Bible. The focus of this work differs from Paedobaptist covenant theology in that it sees the Covenant of Grace as only properly coming through Jesus Christ. This is the traditional way Reformed Baptists have articulated the Covenant of Grace. This rich theological primer encourages readers to gain a clearer perspective on biblical covenants in relation to modern practice.
Douglas Van Dorn has pastored the Reformed Baptist Church of Northern Colorado since 2002 and co-hosted the radio show Journey’s End in 2011–2012. He also served on the Administrative Council of the Association of Reformed Baptist Churches of America.
