Jeff Struecker enlisted in the US Army at age 18 and served for more than 22 years before retiring as a chaplain with the rank of Major.
Jeff spent most of his Army career serving in special operations units and was deployed to combat in Panama, Kuwait, Somalia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He holds many awards and decorations for his military service, including the Bronze Star Medal with the “V” device for valor. His service in the Battle of Mogadishu was depicted in the popular film Black Hawk Down.
While on active duty, Jeff earned an undergraduate degree at Troy University in Alabama. After earning his MDiv from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2000, he was commissioned as a US Army chaplain in 2001. Jeff completed more than 10 years as a chaplain before retiring from the Army in 2011. He received his PhD from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in North Carolina in 2015.
With experience as a youth pastor and associate pastor, Jeff now serves as the lead pastor of 2 Cities Church. He is also a competitive long-distance runner and author or coauthor of several books of fiction and nonfiction, and he and his former high school sweetheart—now his wife—Dawn are the proud parents of Aaron, Jacob, Joseph, Abigail, and Lydia.

I did purchase this recently and really enjoy the teaching. I like the way it teaches you about being a chaplain, and how to use Logos while being a chaplain. Besides the videos, it has the script allowing you to read along. It also has quizzes, and exams to test your knowledge of the material. If it only had a printable certificate at the end, it would be perfect.

I am a retired (2007) U.S. Navy chaplain, and I wish I had this available when I entered chaplaincy, especially at my first command, a ship where I was the only chaplain. I'd encourage anyone considering chaplaincy to buy this.

im in prison ministry and serve next to many chaplains behind the walls. i bought this inthe hopes that as we are all soldiers in the army of the Lord we must equip and be fully armored in these last days; redeemimg the time for the days are evil. I am a former inmate and in so have much inside experiencs and outside support to do the work God . we are never to old to be fishing. go and bring them in!!!!!!

As a member of one of the peace churches (christian pacifism) I have serious concerns about this course being taught by an ex-ranger, ex-military chaplain. I want to state that I have not purchased this product yet, and am still contemplating the possibility. However, there are many areas of chaplaincy apart from military chaplaincy, and I sincerely hope that Jeff's course is not overly colored by recounts of warfare, military culture, or his personal interpretation of christian justification for violence and war. There are many, many outstanding chaplains who would have been available to produce an outstanding course on chaplaincy, and I am concerned that Logos sought an instructor who's particular credentials could be polarizing, when other candidates were available, although perhaps not as glamourous.Larry J Purcell
