In this course Patrick Schreiner walks through the important and often neglected event in Christ’s life called ascension. The ascension is a key plot moment, a hinge on which Christ’s work turns. It not only authorizes and endorses Jesus’s work, but continues Christ’s three roles as prophet, priest, and king. So why don’t we hear about it more? Why did Christ need to ascend? What happened when Jesus ascended? Does the Bible put great weight on this event? Schreiner will answer these questions as you learn about the ascension of Christ.
Patrick Schreiner (PhD, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary) is assistant professor of New Testament language and literature at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon. He is also an elder at Christ Church Sellwood in Portland. Schreiner is the author of The Body of Jesus: A Spatial Analysis of the Kingdom in Matthew and The Kingdom of God and the Glory of the Cross.
