Overview

The Zondervan Biblical and Theological Lectures series provides a unique audio learning experience. Unlike a traditional audiobook’s direct narration of a book’s text, 1-2 Kings: Audio Lectures include high quality live-recordings of college-level lectures that cover the important points from each subject as well as relevant material from other sources. 1-2 Kings: Audio Lectures features scholar and professor David T. Lamb teaching through the books of Kings in 41 engaging and challenging lessons. Based on his 1-2 Kings commentary in The Story of God Bible Commentary series, these lectures explain and illuminate each passage of the book in light of the Bible’s overarching grand story. Lamb offers an engaging and probing introduction to both books of Kings, guiding viewers in creatively and faithfully living out its messages in today’s context. Using a story-centric approach, this set of lessons is ideal for formal and informal students alike, and for everyone who wants to better understand the books of Kings today. 1-2 Kings: Audio Lectures breathes life into each passage of the book, examined in its canonical and historical setting, in order to foster discernment in living God’s story faithfully and creatively with and for the church in the 21st century. 1-2 Kings: Audio Lectures, featuring David T. David T. Lamb

Dr. David T. Lamb loves to teach the Bible. This passion was developed during twenty years of ministry with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, first as a student at Stanford (BA, MS), and then on IV staff in LA and Philadelphia. Studies at Fuller (MDiv) and Oxford (MPhil, DPhil) deepened his love for the Old Testament. He has been teaching OT at Missio Seminary (formerly Biblical) since 2006. His dissertation, Righteous Jehu and his Evil Heirs was published in 2007 (Oxford). He wrote three popular books, The Emotions of God: Making Sense of a God Who Hates, Weeps, and Loves (IVP, 2022), God Behaving Badly: Is the God of the Old Testament Angry, Sexist and Racist (IVP, 2011, 2022), and Prostitutes and Polygamists: A Look at Love, Old Testament Style (Zondervan, 2015). He also wrote a textbook, The Historical Writings (with Mark Leuchter, Fortress, 2016) and a commentary, 1-2 Kings (Zondervan, 2021). He is currently working on commentaries on Chronicles for Baker, and on Genesis for Lexham. He became the Allan A. MacRae Professor of Old Testament in 2016 and the Dean of the Faculty in 2017. For more information, see www.DavidTLamb.com.
