Overview

"My purpose in this book is to share the insights and understandings I have acquired over the years from the study of Ecclesiastes and to enable students to gain as much benefit as possible from their own study of this ancient book. Readers should linger over Solomon's arguments, reflecting on how his views on any subject—relationships, work, civil government, the meaning of life—may intersect with or challenge their own. Let Ecclesiastes lead you to examine your worldview—the ideas you hold about what is important in life, what has value and will last—as well as to reflect on the worldviews of those around you. Consider Solomon's experience in the light of your own, and think about how your life would be different if faith in God guided your attitudes, decisions and activities more consistently."T. M. Moore This new translation and interpretive paraphrase artfully unveils the ancient mysteries of this often puzzling book. By its very cynicism, Ecclesiastes seems to suggest that to find what is of enduring value we must embrace the hard things, not avoid them. With notes and a useful study guide, Moore skillfully shows us that the dark side will have its say. The question is, will it have the last word? About the Author: T. M. Moore is editor of the Worldview Church. He serves as dean of the Centurions Program of the Wilberforce Forum and principal of The Fellowship of Ailbe, a spiritual fellowship in the Celtic Christian tradition. He is the author or editor of twenty books, and has contributed chapters to four others. His essays, reviews, articles, papers, and poetry have appeared in dozens of national and international journals, and on a wide range of websites. His most recent books are The Ailbe Psalter and The Ground for Christian Ethics (Waxed Tablet). He and his wife and editor, Susie, make their home in Concord, Tennessee.
