“You can create a career that not only leads you to success, but also to more personal satisfaction and fulfillment,” author Amy C. Baker promises. From her own professional background, Baker identifies seven guiding principles for women of faith in the workplace. Approaching work intentionally, you can develop behaviors and action plans to achieve career goals and make a difference in the world around you. Inspiring stories from well-known professionals and from ordinary women illustrate the seven lessons in living color. Application exercises challenge you to personally apply the lessons to your own workplace situations. Almost 60 percent of women are participants in the labor force, representing 46 percent of total U.S. workers. Baker knows that women at work have significant potential for impact and agrees with Dr. Henry Blackaby, who has said that he believes “God is marshalling his people in the workplace as never before in history. God is up to something...” “Using your God-given gifts, applying divinely inspired attitudes, and approaching work from a much bigger perspective, you can affect how successful you are, how satisfied you are with your working life, and how significant an impact you have on the world around you.” Succeed at Work explores daunting questions such as: • Does my work matter to God? • How do we reconcile career ambition with the Bible's exhortation to be humble? • Is it okay to be politically astute at work? • What good is change? Follow Amy C. Baker's seven lessons and realize your potential for growth in your career and in your faith.
