Top Highlights

“Character—Paul appealed to two motivations for the Thessalonians to live up to high ethical standards. One was to please God. The other was to live so as to win the respect of those outside the gospel. If persons knew only these two guidelines, they would be enough to begin and continue the journey of growing toward mature Christian character.” (Page 1876)

“John the Baptist announced that something new was about to begin: the reign of God through the ministry of Christ. Those who want to relate to God and experience the immediacy of the reign of God in and through Christ need a radical change in their lives. John the Baptist made that clear. His call for repentance still needs to be heard today. No one is ready to come under the sovereign rule of God until there is a change of attitude and action with regard to sin and service. There must be a willingness to give up everything to experience the reality of the kingdom of God through the immediacy of Christ’s ruling authority.” (Page 1412)

“The book of Joel reminds us of God’s power and justice, two of his perfect attributes that are constantly at work in our lives. When we reflect on these traits, we are reminded of the grace God has shown us, and we should be brought to awe that he has chosen us to be his beloved children.” (Page 1304)

“The first sign shows the water of purification so central to Jewish practice replaced by wine, the symbol of Jesus’s blood. Jesus is the only way to purification before God. Ritual will not work. In Jesus, God’s kingdom has entered the world revealing God’s glory.” (Page 1587)

Robby Gallaty completed his Masters of Divinity Degree in Expository Preaching in 2007 and his Ph.D. in Preaching in 2011 from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Robby is the author of Creating An Atmosphere to Hear God Speak (2009), Unashamed: Taking a Radical Stand for Christ (2010), Growing Up: How to Be a Disciple Who Makes Disciples (2013), Firmly Planted: How to Cultivate a Faith Rooted in Christ (2015), Rediscovering Discipleship: Making Jesus' Final Words Our First Work (2015), and Foundations: A 260 Day Reading Plan for Busy Believers.

Doc: Could you clarify you statement about who has "taken out the articles on Doctrinal Summaries, History of the Doctrines and Life Helps that relate the doctrines to life."? Did the ESV Systematic Study Bible do that? Or, the Logos CSB Disciple'd Study Bible? What Bible do I need to purchase to get the Doctrinal Summaries, etc.? Thanks.

I have the original NIV Disciple's Study Bible published in 1988 - the study notes are exactly the same as the new version. It's an incredible Study Bible. The study notes are incredibly in-depth. I grew up using these study notes and they helped shape my spiritual growth in amazing ways. This Study Bible has a very special place in my life. Thank you that it is going to be available in Logos!
