How to update Logos

When you are connected to the internet, type “update now” (without quotes) in the Command Box, then press Enter. Logos will automatically update you to the most recent version of Logos 7.


How to turn on automatic updates

To continue to receive important security updates automatically, ensure automatic updates are turned on.

Click Tools > Program Settings. Scroll down to the Internet section and ensure that both Use Internet and Automatically Download Updates are set to Yes.


What is happening?

We are making an important security update that will protect your data and comply with current regulations regarding Transport Layer Security (TLS). After we make the security update, some Logos 7 users may experience limited software functionality. To maintain the full functionality of your Logos software and ensure your security, it’s important for you to update to the most recent version of Logos 7 now.

What will change when I update?

You will be updated to the most recent release of Logos, version 7.19. Depending on what version you are updating from, you may find that the update adds new functionality to your Logos software.

Will I lose any content or functionality?

No, you will not lose any content or functionality, and your update may actually provide new functionality.

What will happen if I don’t update?

There are two potential scenarios.

We will be pushing a mandatory update to the most current version of Logos to all remaining impacted users who are online during the second week of November. If you are impacted and receive this update while using Logos, no further action will be required on your part.

If your software is not updated to Logos version 7.18 SR-1 or newer prior to November 7, 2018, you may experience limited functionality and be working in an unsupported, offline mode. In offline mode, you are not able to:

  • Log in to the application after you sign out
  • Download new content (free or purchased) to your software
  • Sync your documents and settingswith other devices, such as your tablet or smartphone
  • Use features that require being online, like Community Notes and Popular Highlights.
  • View content pushed to your Home Page from Logos

Do I need to purchase anything to maintain access to my software?

No. You can manually update to the most recent version of Logos 7 for free. Purchasing and installing a Logos 7 base package will also provide the appropriate updates, but this is not required.

I currently have Logos 7. Do I need to do anything?

It depends. If you are running Logos version 7.18 SR-1 or newer, no action is required on your part. However, if you have turned off automatic updates in your app, you may need to manually update to Logos version 7.18 SR-1 or newer.

I am a Faithlife Connect subscriber. Does this security update affect me?

It depends. The Logos web app is unaffected by this update. If you have installed the Logos desktop software, version 7.18 SR-1 or newer, no action is required on your part. However, if you have turned off automatic updates in your app, you may need to manually update to Logos version 7.18 SR-1 or newer..

Does this affect the Logos mobile apps?

Logos mobile apps are not impacted by this update. However, if you are running impacted desktop software, you will find that changes you make in the desktop software will not sync to your mobile apps or web app.

Why are you making this update?

We are deploying this security update to adhere to industry best practices and regulatory guidelines. This change will enforce TLS 1.2 between the Logos desktop app and our servers. You can learn more about TLS 1.2 and how others are adopting it here:
