Anthony N. S. Lane (Tony) studied mathematics and then theology at both Oxford and Cambridge. He has taught historical theology at the London School of Theology since 1973, part-time in recent years. His doctoral research was into Calvin’s use of the church fathers, on which he has continued to work throughout his career. His most recent book is a second volume on John Calvin: Student of the Church Fathers (Brill, 2025). He also specializes in other areas, including Catholic-Protestant dialogue on justification both in the sixteenth century and in recent years. He is married with two daughters and six grandchildren.
