Place Biblical Events in Context with the Biblical Event Navigator

We often speak of studying passages in context. Likewise, we need to study events in context.

For example, imagine we’re studying events surrounding Jesus’ arrest and trials. A lot was happening on the eve of his crucifixion, and keeping those episodes in contextual order can sometimes be challenging.

Thankfully, we have access to an interactive, the Biblical Event Navigator, that makes quick work of placing events in context. Give this a go:

• Choose Tools | Interactive Media | Biblical Event Navigator (A)

• Type arrest in the Find events box at the top of the sidebar (B)
• Notice in the sidebar all of the events containing the word arrest in the title or the Bible facts section you’ll see momentarily (C)
• Click the event title Jesus is arrested in Gethsemane (D)

• Notice details of the event load on the right including related Bible facts (E) and passages in which it’s located (F)

• Remove the word arrest from the Find events box (G)
• Notice the sidebar returns to a list of all biblical events (H)
• Scroll in the sidebar until you see Jesus is arrested in Gethsemane highlighted (I)
• Notice now the events preceding (J) and following Jesus’ arrest! (K)

This Interactive is very helpful in seeing events at a glance and in context! Please file it away for future use.
