The Voice™ is a faithful dynamic equivalent translation that reads like a story with all the truth and wisdom of God's Word. Through compelling narratives, poetry, and teaching, The Voice invites readers to enter into the whole story of God, enabling them to hear God speaking and to experience His presence in their lives. Through a collaboration of nearly 120 biblical scholars, pastors, writers, musicians, poets, and artists, The Voice recaptures the passion, grit, humor, and beauty that is often lost in the translation process. The result is a retelling of the story of the Bible in a form as fluid as modern literary works yet painstakingly true to the original manuscripts.

Features include:

  • Two-color text
  • Italicized information added to help contemporary readers understand what original readers would have known intuitively
  • In-text commentary notes that include cultural, historical, theological, or devotional thoughts
  • Screenplay format, ideal for public readings and group studies
  • Book introductions
  • Presentation page for personalization
  • Reading plans for Lent, Easter, Advent, and more
  • Topical Guide to the Notes
  • Topical Guide to the Scripture

Top Highlights

“But if we are honest with ourselves and confess our own faults, we will find in Scripture, particularly in the First Testament, that we have much in common with many broken saints of the past. But we must not stay broken. We must follow their path to transformation through repentance and faith.” (source)

“This serves three purposes: it gives the government an unending supply of capable people; it further cripples the conquered nation, rendering them helpless; and it ensures the conquered nation will not want to retaliate because their own loved ones live in the conquering land.” (source)

“Jesus (to Philip): 9I have lived with you all this time, and you still don’t know who I am? If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father.” (source)

“But if you have invited the Spirit to destroy these selfish desires, you will experience life. 14If” (source)

“In homes, they broke bread and shared meals with glad and generous hearts.” (source)

this rating is not for the translation. The only reason I bought this book in Logos was so that I could have it synced in with everything else. Instead it is like any other ebook, basically it doesn't sync with anything and can't find your place in it by going to the table of books and verses, as if it was not a Bible translation, but just a regular non-Bible book. I already have had 2 electronic versions and 2 paper versions of this book which I have to sync ie find the verse I'm studying by elbow grease, thanks!

This translation is so rich and meaningful to me that when I read it the stories and dialogue make so much more sense and the commentaries are appropriate. I like the use of "The Eternal One" as a name for God as "I am". Not for exegetical use, but a good paraphrase.
