Overview
Although all four Gospels present Jesus as the Son of God, he preferred to call himself “The Son of Man.” Luke’s narrative emphasizes not only the humanity of Jesus, but the humanity of man. Jesus spoke to the poverty of the human condition. He singled out groups and individuals who were despised or marginalized among their own society.
This is not a volume of textual criticism. It accepts the Gospel of Luke as the inerrant, God-breathed Word of God. It is not a book on theology, not a book of devotions, but a careful examination in a flowing narrative style of the actual words and deeds of the Christ. The author has chosen to address this volume to the large body of devoted followers of Christ, including pastors, teachers, missionaries, and everyday Christians.
