Overview

Southern Seminary professor and NAPCE member Timothy Paul Jones is now editor of The Journal of Family Ministry. This publication is a re-launched recension of a widely read and respected periodical that was first published in 1987. Now, The Journal of Family Ministry is a peer-reviewed academic and professional journal, and NAPCE members are urged to submit articles to the journal for consideration. Feature articles should be fewer than 10,000 words in length, with a preference for articles around 7,500 words that explore some specific aspect of family ministry from a conservative-evangelical perspective. Additionally, recent doctoral graduates are encouraged to submit 500-to-700-word summaries of their doctoral research, with a focus on the ministry implications of their research, for the Research Briefs section of the journal. Doctoral students as well as professors and other NAPCE members might also consider contributing 500-to-700-word book reviews to the journal. All articles, briefs, and reviews should closely follow the style guidelines of the Journal of Biblical Literature.

Top Highlights

“The Father is supreme in authority among the Persons of the Godhead, and he is responsible for devising the grand purposes and plans that take place through all of creation and redemption (see, for example, Eph 1:3, 9–11). The Son is under the Father’s authority and seeks always to do the Father’s will. Although the Son is fully God, he nonetheless takes his lead from the Father and seeks to glorify the Father in all that he does (see, for example, John 8:28–29, 42). The Spirit is under both the Father and the Son.” (Volume 1, Number 2, Page 8)

“The overwhelming majority of Christian parents are not actively engaged in any sort of battle for their children’s souls.” (Volume 1, Number 2, Page 4)

“The king’s fear of Yahweh will produce five benefits in Israel. First, the king will ‘keep all the words of this Torah” (Volume 1, Number 1, Page 14)

“a specified approach to passing on the knowledge of this one true God to the generations that will follow.” (Volume 1, Number 1, Page 12)

“ identity, unity, and harmony are primary elements on display in the father-son relationship of God.” (Volume 1, Number 2, Page 20)
