Overview
Marc indique lui-même le but de son écrit dès le premier verset : présenter l’« Évangile de Jésus-Christ, Fils de Dieu » (1.1). Ce thème atteint son zénith au milieu de ses seize chapitres d’histoire. Dans 8.29, à la question de Jésus : « Qui dites‑vous que je suis ? », Pierre répond d’un air de triomphe : « Tu es le Christ. » Cette confession constitue l’apogée doctrinal de l’évangile de Marc. Ce qui précède converge vers elle, et ce qui suit en découle et continue de la développer.

John MacArthur (b. 1939) is a Calvinist theologian, author, editor, and teacher. He is a popular conference speaker and the president of both The Master's College and The Master's Seminary. He has also served as pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California since 1969.
