About Ed Harrell

Ed Harrell is professor emeritus of History at Auburn University, received a B.A. degree from David Lipscomb College in 1954 and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Vanderbilt University in 1958 and 1962. He has written seven books on American religious history, including The Churches of Christ in the Twentieth Century: Homer Hailey’s Personal Journey of Faith; Oral Roberts: An American Life; and Pat Robertson: A Personal, Religious, and Political Portrait. He is co-editor of Minorities in Modern America, a series published by Indiana University Press, and a series entitled Religion and American Culture by the University of Alabama Press. He is the author of over 50 articles in scholarly publications. His current research interests focus on the history of the modern Pentecostal and charismatic movements in America.
