Traveling in the Holy Land Through the Stereoscope is a 100 photo tour of Palestine prepared by Jesse Lyman Hurlbutt around the turn of the century. Admittedly, this is something of a novelty product, but it has a rare quality of antiquity. It is like looking not at 100 year old photos, but at thousand year old photos as most of the major changes to the landscape and customs have taken place in the past 100 years. The photos and accompanying articles feature not only well-known Biblical sites but people living and working as they did for thousands of years, before 20th-century modernization. Each of the 100 stereoscopic photographs is discussed in detail by Hurlbutt and linked to relevant scripture passages.
