Themelios is an international evangelical theological journal that expounds and defends the historic Christian faith. Its primary audience is theological students and pastors, though scholars read it as well. It was formerly a print journal operated by RTSF/UCCF in the United Kingdom, and it became a digital journal operated by The Gospel Coalition in 2008. The new editorial team, led by D.A. Carson, seeks to preserve representation, in both essayists and reviewers, from both sides of the Atlantic. Each issue contains articles on important theological themes, as well as book reviews and discussion—from the most important evangelical voices of our time.
“Thus Luther and Calvin only advocated keeping a Sabbath for practical reasons, the need for rest and a time for worship” (Page 97)
“In brief, my view is that, if the Sabbath is primarily a gift of God for his own, it is not something that should be imposed on others. If, however, it is given to believers as good, it is likely to be good for society as a whole, and Christians should try to convince society of the value of a day of rest.” (Page 96)
“(b) Restoration. The sabbath signifies the need of regular restoration after a period of work.” (Page 98)
“ ‘The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath’ (Mk. 2:27); ‘The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath’ (Mk. 2:28).” (Page 96)
“(a) Distinctiveness. Observance of the Sabbath separated Israel from other peoples” (Page 98)
