Overview

In this easy-to-read book, Peter Jeffery shows us just how tantalizingly enjoyable Bible teaching can be. With short but solid chapters on key subjects, he outlines the ABCs of the Christian faith.

Each of the chapters is bite-size. There is just enough to manage at one time, and you will find there is much to nourish the mind, as well as warm the heart and inspire the will. Quotations from other writers are also included, as is as a list of recommended books for additional reading. There is also a guide for reading through the New Testament and Psalms in a year.

In the Logos edition, all Scripture passages in Bitesize Theology are tagged and appear on mouseover, and all Scripture passages link to your favorite Bible translation in your library. With Logos’ advanced features, you can perform powerful searches by topic or Scripture reference—finding, for example, every mention of “faith” or “grace.”

“If our thinking about God is not correct then every other doctrine we apply our minds to will also be incorrect.” (Page 17)

“Surely it is not unreasonable to expect Christians to know the vocabulary of what they believe. Doctrinal words are the technical words of the Christian faith.” (Page 14)

“Their immaturity had nothing to do with how long they had been saved but it was a result of unbelief and not using the opportunities God had placed before them.” (Page 9)

“our salvation. The Father planned it, the Son purchased it and the Holy Spirit applies it to us.” (Pages 29–30)

Peter Jeffery has a unique gift for presenting difficult concepts precisely, with clear and simple language. Bitesize Theology is both sound and simple—a combination that is all too rare in modern evangelical literature. This is an invaluable resource for both lay people and serious students of theology.

I consider this to be a good book. I think the real audience would be new Christians, Middle School and High School. It is to give an entry level view of theology. Many use computer searches which can give you wrong information or take you to questionable sources. Start with the basics. I would recommend using "Dictionary of Biblical Themes" with this book. Providing other verses to study to expand on what is taught. USing this other book as an expansion on using the Bible to learn more about the Theology of each chapter. Theologians love using big words. But sometimes we need simplicity to explain it to new believers. USing resources wisely this book can Help anyone grow in faith. Make you think about our faith. And show why we need to use the Bible instead of other sources to understand our faith in God. Let the Bible speak our Theology to Help grow our reading of the Word.
