Walter Brueggemann (b. 1933) is a retired Old Testament scholar, prolific author, and professor emeritus at Columbia Theological Seminary. Brueggemann is an advocate and practitioner of rhetorical criticism. He has authored more than 58 books, hundreds of articles, and several commentaries on books of the Bible. He is also a minister of the United Church of Christ. Brueggemann has a ThD from Union Theological Seminary, New York and a PhD from St.Â Louis University.
