The three letters in this volume contain the exchange between Philip Pugh and Samuel Cozens, a Baptist minister, in response to a sermon preached by Cozens in June, 1852. Pugh responded to Cozen at the request of a group of Methodist ministers, thus beginning a lively theological debate in the form of correspondence—published for the general public.
