“What we do in a crisis uncovers our spiritual state.” (Page 8)

“One way to appreciate God’s promises is to search them out in the Bible and note their surrounding verses. Often the verses close to a verse containing a promise from God will shed light on its meaning. There is danger in isolating any Bible verse from its context. A text out of context can easily become a pretext for saying something other than what the verse means.” (Page 4)

“In all trouble you should seek God. You should not set him over against your troubles, but within them. God can only relieve your troubles if you in your anxiety cling to him. Trouble should not really be thought of as this thing or that in particular, for our whole life on earth involves trouble; and through the troubles of our earthly pilgrimage we find God.’” (Page 5)

“When in trouble one’s reaction may be to fret and worry, but a Christian’s instinctive reaction should be to pray.” (Page 8)

“This is because his happiness is not dependent on the circumstances but on God, who is his Savior.” (Page 7)
