Lexham Cultural Ontology Supplemental Dataset

Explore cultural concepts from the Bible

We’ve identified more than 1,000 cultural concepts from the world of the Bible—everything from levirate marriage to the image of divinity riding on a cloud. The Cultural Ontology Supplemental Dataset takes those cultural concepts and connects them to Factbook entries, primary sources, and other Bible study resources. When you right-click on any biblical text and select “cultural concepts,” you find a list of every cultural concept expressed in that passage. Click on one and Logos consults this database, delivering resources to help you explore the Bible’s cultural context. We’ve hand labeled more than 80,000 tags and linked them to cultural concepts so you can find exactly what you need. The Cultural Ontology Supplemental Dataset lets you easily cross-reference scriptural passages with other literature written during the same period, explore customs practiced by biblical people, and more. Because we’ve done the research for you, contextual work that used to take hours can now be done in seconds by anyone.
