Overview

Right now, Truth is under attack, and much is at stake. Christians are caught in the crossfire of alternative Christian histories, emerging faulty texts, and a cultural push to eliminate absolute Truth altogether. As a result, many churches and Christians have been deceived. Worse still, they propagate the deception that poses itself as Truth! In The Truth War Study Guide John MacArthur reclaims the unwavering certainty of God’s Truth and anchors Christians in the eternal, immovable promises that are found in His Word.

For those struggling with contemporary society’s apparent willingness to redefine “truth”, The Truth War Study Guide:

  • Empowers Christians to claim the certainties that God promises
  • Gives a critical evaluation of postmodern trends
  • Teaches Christians how to identify and address the errors and false teachings smuggled into their churches
  • Provides a solid format for small group discussion or individual study

“An apostate is a defector from the truth—someone who has known the truth, given some show of affirmation to it, perhaps even proclaimed it for a while—but then rejected it in the end. The typical apostate may still purport to believe the truth and proclaim the truth; but in reality he opposes the truth and undermines it.” (Page 26)

“For it is good that the heart be established by grace’ (Heb. 13:9 nkjv). Our hearts can not be distracted and carried away by false teachings if they have been first established in the truth.” (Page 91)

“Paul’s hopes are a little intimidating—fully pleasing, fruitful, filled with knowledge. That’s quite a lot to live up to! But it’s a goal worthy of our pursuit, and one we can work towards in very practical ways. Want to please God? Study to find out what pleases Him. Want to be fruitful? Study to find out what kind of fruit God wants us to yield. And in the process of seeking these answers, you’ll be growing in the knowledge of the Lord along the way. Worthy goals, indeed.” (Page 88)

“‘For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God’ (Rom 10:3 nkjv). All it takes to wind up in a whole mess of trouble is a little ignorance. Postmodernism lulls people into believing they can create their own truth. They try to do the right thing and live good lives, but on their own terms instead of God’s.” (Page 89)

“Those who refuse to acknowledge the truth end up acting foolishly. They talk nonsense. They make sinful plans and act on them. They spout untruths. They find their chosen path leaves them dissatisfied. And they’ll bring down as many with them as they can in spite of it all. We do well to guard against such people.” (Page 89)
