When given the opportunity to buy the local mercantile, Emily St. John snaps it up - mostly because it will allow her to work side by side with the man she’s loved since childhood. Surely, he’ll finally pay attention to her. But Jeremiah Daniels can’t believe it. He’s scrimped and saved in order to buy the store he works in... and he’s waited to court Emily until he had it and could provide well for her. Now, he figures, she can just keep her store and spend her spare time working for women’s suffrage. He’s going to open a shop of his own.
