The Bible was first translated into Japanese by Jesuit missionaries in the sixteenth century. The Shinkaiyaku Seisho, or New Japanese Bible, was first published by the Japanese Bible Society in 1970. It was among the first complete Japanese Bibles translated wholly from the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Today the Shinkaiyaku Bible is the predominant translation used among Protestant denominations in Japan. The translators adopted an essentially literal translation philosophy, aiming to balance word-for-word and thought-for-thought translation strategies, comparable to the English Standard Version.

It would be nice to have on logos as a believer in Japan.

This would be nice if it were available in Logos. I cannot say more than Jared M Vanning said. While there are many tools for studying Bible that support a Japanese Bible translation, Logos has such a name that at least one Japanese translation should be present.

Is there any news regarding the release of this bible, or regarding the release of a similar Japanese translation?

  5. Jared M Vanning
As a missionary here in Japan, I had higher hopes for this. But reading the reviews dating back years, my hopes were deflated. So I guess if I'm going to get this tool to use in Japan, it will have to be God burdening the hearts of the necessary people to make it happen. I'm not sure how many people are interested to fill the "Gathering Interest" bar, but I think more people would be interested if it actually happened and it was done well. It would be a tool for growing the church instead of a tool for a grown church. I pray God will speak to the hearts of the necessary people to bring the Shinkaiyaku 2017 to Logos users working with Japanese in Japan.

This is now obsolete. Would be great if Logos would get the 2017 translation in a timely manner so that we can start using it.

Now that we have a new version (Shinkaiyaku 2017), I cancelled this pre-order. Can I suggest you (whoever's in charge of pre-pub) to start a new pre-pub page for the new Japanese version?
