“What the church needs today is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more novel methods, but … men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Spirit does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery but on men.” (Page 126)

“‘It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord and o sing praises unto thy name O Most High’ (Psalm 92:1).” (Page 75)

“They spoke the word of God with boldness.’ Lack of prayer stops much service for God. But here earnest prayer resulted in the disciples preaching the Word of God with great courage. Martin Luther said, ‘If I fail to spend two hours in prayer each morning, the devil gets the victory through the day.’” (Page 126)

“They were all filled with the Holy Ghost.’ If we are going to serve the Lord faithfully, we need the endowment of the Holy Spirit.” (Page 126)

“Paul was bitten by the snake when he was doing good. Doing good does not exempt one from afflictions.” (Page 174)
