For nearly 30 years, the Journal of Biblical Counseling (previously the Journal of Pastoral Practice) of CCEF (the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation) has provided a forum for biblical counseling’s development and application. The journal’s mission is to develop clear thinking and effective practice in biblical counseling through articles that faithfully bring the God of truth, mercy, and power to the issues faced by ministries of counseling and discipleship.
“Overeating is a reflection of one’s resisting the authority of God in his life.” (Page 17)
“Bitterness is resentment over something done to you” (Page 24)
“This verse in Proverbs establishes physical need as the guideline. This is the amount of food necessary to maintain metabolic processes in the body—the amount necessary for them to function properly.” (Page 17)
“The guideline is to eat only what you need so you do not waste the food. Eating until full is not a reliable guideline since one can train his body to feel ‘full’ at different levels.” (Page 17)
“The best exercise for weight loss is self-discipline in eating. It doesn’t require any equipment, can be done any place, will reduce the appetite, not stimulate it, and holds fewer hazards for most people. It follows the self-discipline principles taught in the Scripture.” (Page 18)
