Overview

Presenting some of the most unique problems in the New Testament, 1 Peter requires a vast knowledge of the classical world and the New Testament documents. J. Ramsey Michaels’ work on 1 Peter provides a tour through all of the relevant historical data, examining the circumstance which gave rise to Peter’s exhortations. He provides analysis of textual problems, and draws out the epistle’s implications of the epistle for contemporary life.

The Word Biblical Commentary delivers the best in biblical scholarship, from the leading scholars of our day who share a commitment to Scripture as divine revelation. This series emphasizes a thorough analysis of textual, linguistic, structural, and theological evidence. The result is judicious and balanced insight into the meanings of the text in the framework of biblical theology. These widely acclaimed commentaries serve as exceptional resources for the professional theologian and instructor, the seminary or university student, the working minister, and everyone concerned with building theological understanding from a solid base of biblical scholarship.

Good commentaries, good info, however, they are outdated and need completely revising from the ground up i would recommend a detailed exegeses section, text critical with some commentary on important Greek and Hebrew. And a complete section on each paragraph of suggestions on self-application of the principle, and ideas for preaching-teaching, and illustrating the text.

Great commentary which is not afraid to go deeply into the languages.
