Overview

What does God want you to know, be, and do as an individual, family, church and nation? This question occupies the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Indeed, you could divide all the verses in the Bible into these four groups.

Almost 700 pages in length, this encyclopedia represents forty years of clear, uncompromising allegiance to the fundamental truth that Scripture alone is the original of what we should believe and how we should live. You will find this work to be as practical as it is profound. May God expand your understanding of all He wants you to know, be, and do through this encyclopedia.

The material in this work can be adapted for sermons, Sunday School classes, and group Bible studies. Indeed, the manuscript was tested in Baptist, Presbyterian, and Pentecostal churches with great success. The pastors loved the fact that most of the material is in the form of sermon outlines and can be used for overheads or PowerPoint. Teachers found the materials that handle difficult issues such as head coverings very helpful. Laypeople will benefit from the point-by-point, biblically rooted teaching on more than 130 topics.

In the introduction to this massive book, the author writes, "The Encyclopedia of Practical Christianity is a chronicle of what was taught at New Life Bible Church for nearly twenty years and then at Faith Community Church. When New Life Bible Church was first established, it was decided that if we failed to plan what we were going to do as a church, we were actually planning to fail. Instead of aimlessly wandering around in our study of the Scriptures, we decided to develop a comprehensive plan that would give us the scope of biblical topics that we should cover. This volume of material represents our attempt to fulfill our original goal."

“Your vision is composed of the goals that you set before yourself. These goals provide you with the reasons why you must do or not do certain things. They also provide you with the motivation to persevere in the face of trials and suffering.” (Page 13)

“The Gnostic materials, which are filled with absurd miracles of the child Jesus, cannot be viewed as valid” (Page 601)

“Filling of the Spirit’ meant the desire and power to do God’s will.” (Page 91)

Dr. Morey's book is excellent, broad in its coverage, easy to use, easy to access. It is a very helpful tool. I'm going to find it helpful in my own study.
