James Denney’s death in 1917 prevented him from delivering these lectures. Later in the year, the manuscripts were discovered among his papers, practically completed; they appear printed in this volume exactly as he wrote them, with only a handful of footnotes inserted by the editor. These lectures discuss reconciliation through six different aspects: as expressed in the New Testament, as practiced by Christians, as achieved by Christ, as a spiritual and bodily need, as an experimental concept, and in Christian’s notion of our past.
