Overview

Prepared by the Benedictine monks of Conception Abbey in Missouri, this edition presents these moving passages of the Bible in an accurate and poetic translation, while keeping a smooth cadence especially suited to singing and recitation. It establishes the definitive form of psalms and canticles that will gradually appear in official Catholic liturgical books such as future editions of the Liturgy of the Hours and the Lectionary for Mass. Liturgy directors, composers, parish music directors, and the clergy, religious, and lay faithful will value this collection. Anyone who loves to study and pray with Sacred Scripture will find this work to be a timeless treasure. Official version approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). It is my sincere hope that this translation of the Psalms and Biblical Canticles will be a source of spiritual nourishment for the liturgy and the private prayer of all who use them. Abbot Primate Gregory Polan, O.S.B.

To answer my own question, it does include the complete psalter, with all verses of all psalms. The canticles of the Roman Office are also included, including some where there are different options for which verses are used. (It's quite a while since I used the Roman Office, so I'm not sure if these are used on different days/hours or if they're available as options.) My Hebrew is nowhere near good enough to comment on the quality of the translation, so I'll leave that to others. It seems a particularly useful resource for anyone having to update their own Office books. One point to mention: it uses the Hebrew numbering, with the LXX in parentheses, so if, like me you're used to the Greek numbering, it might be confusing for a while.

Does anyone know if this contains the complete psalter, including the 'deprecatory' psalms and verses that are omitted from the Roman Divine Office?
