The average age a child encounters pornography is eleven, and by fourteen, most children have already been exposed--even Christians. Martinez-Herbert was a part of that statistic. Pornography is foreign. Intriguing. Enticing. But all vicious creatures eventually show their predator nature. A Church Girl's Recovery is an introspective excavation of pain, struggle, and hope throughout a fourteen-year recovery journey that focuses on God's promise of freedom and how community is essential for growth.
“Miranda Martinez-Herbert’s anger (passion and compassion) for those in captivity is evident throughout this honest, vulnerable, and weighty writing.”
—Bill Gandy, former Baptist Student Union Director, United States Air Force Academy
“Under Miranda Martinez-Herbert’s deft and lyrical hands, her story melds faith, family, and, above all, love—pure and vulnerable, wise and constant—into a searingly honest tribute to the frailties of the flesh and the beauty of the dogged soul.”
—Kathryn Winograd, author of Slow Arrow
