Harvey D. Egan, S.J., received his doctorate of theology under the direction of Karl Rahner from Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität (Münster, Germany) and is Emeritus Professor of Systematic and Mystical Theology at Boston College, where he taught for forty years. He also taught at Holy Cross College (Worcester, Massachusetts) and Santa Clara University (Santa Clara, California). He is the author of several books—his latest, Soundings in the Christian Mystical Tradition. He is well known for his studies on Christian mysticism and on the thought of Karl Rahner.
