Recipes for a Sweet Child is incredibly practical, helpful, and transformative for the whole family! I absolutely love reading the devotional to prepare my own heart and then engaging my kids to participate in fun activities and in-depth conversation questions. This is the perfect way to start our homeschool day! This resource has led to wonderful conversations and Holy Spirit epiphanies about anger, sadness, fear, jealousy, sibling rivalry, and so much more. Katie uses her experience as a licensed clinical social worker to give incredible tools for helping kids with their big emotions and helping parents know how to respond in a loving but effective way. Whether you are a parent, grandparent, or kids’ ministry leader, this book will have a profound impact on the kids in your life and on your own heart! It will also connect you deeply as you engage in the memory-making activities together. This is my new go-to homeschooling book, and I know I will use it over and over again with my kids.
What a delightful and delicious resource to feed the family and soul! I always say, if you can’t make it fun, make it edible. But Katie has made it both fun and edible, while helping young kids to grow emotionally and spiritually. Though my boys are older now and “too cool” for some of the activities, I know I can extract some great discussion prompts and recipes to share with them while studying God’s Word.
Wow! What an amazing, powerful, practical, and deeply insightful book. This is literally a handbook for those who are beginning the great adventure of homeschool. Katie shows her rich wisdom from her own journey and experience. This book is an answer to the prayer of so many who face the challenges and hurdles of being a homeschool mom. No matter what hurdle you’re presented to face or may encounter in the future in homeschool, Katie has diligently created a blueprint for success!

You’ll find encouragement for your quiet time and practical ideas for family fun time. You’ll not only make delicious desserts with the related recipes, but you’ll also make precious memories together.
I’m all about having fun as a family, and Katie J. Trent has hit the nail on the head with her book Recipes for a Sweet Child. She combines fun activities with concepts your child needs to learn. From anger and fear to tattling, whining, and lying to relationship issues, Katie offers practical, biblical activities to help your child work through these issues.
