The message of Job is not that prosperity is a measure of faith or that personal loss equals spiritual failure. We are not even called to reflect on why God allows suffering. The lesson of Job is to trust in the certain righteousness and goodness of God, regardless of circumstances, and love Him for who He is. This well-known but little-read Old Testament book tells us more of the character of worship and of God than the character of Job. God used tragedy and personal trial to reveal Himself to Job. In the same way we are challenged to deeper understanding and deeper worship through the suffering that comes into our lives.
