About the Author Born in London, Robert Forman Horton (1855-1934)was educated at Shrewsbury School and New College, Oxford. He served briefly as a lecturer of History and was a Nonconformist divine. He became a pastor of a Congreational church in Hampshire in 1880 and published many works on theology, criticism, biography, and history.
