This collection brings together the resources of two important series: Apollos Old Testament Commentary (AOT) and Pillar New Testament Commentary (PNTC). Together, these series provide in-depth scholarship on the biblical text that is both scholarly, but also accessible to the average reader.
Apollos Old Testament Commentary (AOT) aims to take with equal seriousness the divine and human aspects of Scripture. It expounds the books of the Old Testament in a scholarly manner accessible to non-experts, and it shows the relevance of the Old Testament to modern readers. Written by an international team of scholars and edited by David W. Baker and Gordon J. Wenham, these commentaries are intended to serve the needs of those who preach from the Old Testament, as well as scholars and all serious students of the Bible.
Designed both for serious students and for general readers of the Bible, the Pillar New Testament Commentary (PNTC) volumes seek above all to make clear the meaning of the text of Scripture as we have it. The scholars writing these volumes interact with the most important, informed contemporary debate yet avoid undue technical detail. The result is a blend of rigorous exegesis and exposition, scholarship and pastoral sensitivity, with an eye alert both to biblical theology and to the contemporary relevance of the Bible.
Note: This collection includes the second edition of Douglas Moo's The Letter of James, 2nd ed. and Colin Kruse's The Letters of John. Moo's original, The Letter of James and Kruse's The Letters of John are still available as well.
